A Mother's Grief: This woman had lost her son in Iraq. She wanted people to know that it was not unpatriotic to be against the war and for Obama. Cedar Rapids, Iowa, 2/11/2007.
AS well she should. Since when can one not display disgust at the wasteful destruction of our young people, not to mention those who for lack of opportunity are compelled to serve in the Armed Forces not voluntarilly but out of necessity.
My question is, why would one consider such a display "unpatriotic"? One must die for the state to be a patriot? Were the seeds of our Constituton planted in "patriotism" or were they borne out of a desire to be rid of tyranny?
A true patriot, in my humble opinion, would be protesting the war, the last two presidential elections, the bailout and on and on. We have become a nation of cattle, mooing gently as we are milked and processed.
